Chandi Review : a heap of gathered scrap

Scrap piles up as a heap and could be used for scrap sale at throw away rate. Similar job has been done in editing room of Chandi. It seems all the cut-out and deleted scenes are finely pasted to form a lull length tragedy. One good thing is, by seeing this movie future movie makers will get cautioned of many mistakes. Watching Chandi, it is felt that a direction less story is cut into 24 pieces and joined without any plan. After this narration, you would be curious to know quality of disaster…..please jump in.

Chandi (Priyamani) is brave and bold. She is great in martial arts. She lives in Hyderabad and does some murders. She is helped by Sekhar Azad (Sarath Kumar). Police never understand about these mysterious murders as to who is doing and who is planning them. Government then induces CBI as Srimannarayana (Naga Babu). Srimannarayana is left clueless about the killer even after many efforts. Chandi reduces her enemies one by one. Bangarraju (Supreet) a criminal and a minister’s son is one among them. After that CBI intensifies the search. Srimannarayana gets to know some facts about the serial killer. Who is this Chandi? Why is she killing? What is the relation with Ashok Gajapathi Raju (Krishnam Raju)? This is the story of Chandi.
A normal story taken to make a sub-standard movie. How does the producers accept such stories ?. Added to this over-action by all artists. Doubts are arising about Samudra’s over active directive skills. The dialogues could have better suited for Mahesh Babu or Jr.NTR elevating heroism. While Priyamani was sounding them, audience were looking at the exit gates.
Glamour roles have been scarce for Priyamani and she had to step into making of failed Sadhyam & Kshetram both lady oriented flicks. Unfortunately Chandi also added to her failure list. Priyamani is a national awardee. Its not her fault. another lengthy role is of Krishnam Raju. Director forgot about a retired rebel star and insisted to show him as a angry young rebel star. Director failed to manage the roles of Sarathbabu, Naga Babu, Posani and the likes. Obviously when he could not create a character suiting to Chandi, how can we expect the rest.
Samudra has brutally used Gabbar Singh antyakshari scene. He always concentrated on buildup scenes. Audience will certainly be scared to see antyakshari scene even in TVs now-on-wards. He wanted to make a crime drama but ended up in making it a crying drama. Its better if we don’t discuss about songs. Cinema should have some mass songs, that’s why they are in. They have been mercilessly pasted in between scenes. For music, Chinna has only cleansed his drums from accumulated dust.
Ofcourse, no one had expectations on Samudra, thats why Chandi is not a surprise at all. Audience need not get disappointed even. For first time viewers of director Samudra’s movie Chandi will be a shock. So choice is yours.
